What a great show we had this year at the the National Western Stock Show. The crowds were great and it’s always fun meeting the public. This year we entered three fleeces into the fleece show and we walked away with three blue ribbons!
This fleece show also offered the opportunity to have entries selected for the hand spinning auction that goes on the duration of the show. We were very pleased to have 2 of our three fleeces selected for this auction! This great confirmation that not only are we able to compete in halter classes with our alpacas but we are also producing high quality fleece that is desirable to the marketplace.
Along with these great results we also completed in the halter classes at the stock show. We we able to win a first place ribbon for Absaroka Renegade.
A second place ribbon for Absaroka Carolina La Belle along with a Reserve Color Championship.
This is fabulous for her as she has finally started showing what we knew she is capable of! Absaroka Verona received a 5th place but we knew her fleece was not yet ready. The judge, David Barbosa, loved her conformation so we know that once that silky fleece tightens up we should have a good foundation to work from.
Not a bad way to start 2017 if I must say. Let’s all hope the rest of the year goes this well cause we’re pretty happy with the way things have started!
